StockBox KanBan System For Medical Supplies | Two-Bin Inventory Management
The StockBox KanBan System uses RFID technology to automate the replenishment and rotation of inventory in medical supply rooms. StockBox is based on the KanBan two-bin philosophy for efficient management of medical supplies inventory. The StockBox KanBan System stocks medical supplies (based on the item's PAR level) into two separate bins (or divided compartments within the bin). Both bins (or compartments) contain the same number of medical supplies. When the first bin is empty, the nurse takes a RFID StockCard from the front of the bin and drops the StockCard into the RFID StockBox. When the StockCard is removed from the bin, a "red" StockCard will be exposed on the front of the bin to communicate (by sight) to the nurses and materials management person that this bin is waiting on inventory replenishment. Once the StockCard is dropped into the StockBox, the software management system automatically notifies the Materials Management inventory system to add items to the restocking replenishment list. When the materials management restocking person comes to restock the medical supplies room, he/she opens the StockBox and removes the RFID StockCards, and then replenishes the bin by moving the medical supplies from the secondary bin to the primary bin. The new stock is now placed in the secondary bin (to rotate the stock). The StockCards are now placed back onto the bin until the primary bin is emptied starting the whole process over again.
