Our 16 foot high velocity, low-speed fan is different from every other fan in the market because of its tubercle technology. Tubercle technology allows the big fan to be not only the most powerful fan on the market, but also the most efficient. When doing a direct comparison of the tubercle bladed fan with other big fans, there are a number of important features that stand out. Performance – the tubercle model 16 foot diameter reversible High Velocity Low Speed fan with a 1.5 horse power motor, capable of producing 182,173 Cubic Feet per Minute. A typical 16 foot diameter airfoil fan with a 1.5 horse power motor only produces 162,231 CFM. Why the big difference? The tubercle fan technology allows air to pass across the front edge of the blade with much less wind resistance. With less resistance comes greater operating efficiency. We were able to increase the blade pitch, rake and cut of their fan blades. From their typical 8-degree pitch used by other HVLS air foils to a staggering 21 degree pitch producing more air with 5 blades than a competitive airfoil model with 10 blades. Along with the performance advantages the tubercle technology actually uses less energy. The efficient blade design allows the end user to move the same amount of air at a slower speed thus providing less resistance and surface area at the leading edge of the blade that creates a more quietly operating fan than its airfoil competitors. For larger facilities in need of a number of fans, the tubercle fan offers a larger coverage area than the competition. In some cases, we were able to use 4 fans in the same space requiring 5 airfoil style fans. In addition to lower upfront cost, these clients saved on installation and energy costs.
