High-Density Storage Shelving Storing Rare Books Manuscripts Historic Documents

November 10, 2015
High-density storage shelving storing rare books was just what a museum in Pasadena, California needed to solve their storage dilemma. The museum houses a huge collection of rare books and historic documents totaling 400,000 books and 7 million manuscripts. High-density storage shelving was able to increase their collection storage without expanding the building's footprint. The high-density storage shelving consists of floor to ceiling shelving units moving on floor mounted rails. The shelving units compact together and use several floating access aisles based on the museum’s activity level. The result was the museum increased their storage capacity by 50 percent.
